"Eight five-voice pods, 40 singers in total - Tallis's Spem in Alium remains one of the towering summits of the choral repertoire. Suzi Digby's ORA Singers performance ... is one of the fleetest on record, and boasts an expert choir whose tuning is immacultate and who munch the technical challenges of the piece for breakfast. Just occasionally the purposeful flow of the interpretation can seem a touch mechanical. But overall this is a formidable piece of singing"

"This is a simply terrific disc. I've admired all of the previous ORA Singers releases but, considering both the expert performances of the smaller works and the thrilling forty-part performances, I'm inclined to think this is their finest achievement to date"

"MacMillan manages the trick of evoking Tallis' textures and mode of expression while writing music that is unmistakably his. It's a work that will certainly have a life beyond this project, and listeners will be getting in on the ground floor. Taken as a whole, the album is one of those where everything comes together in a really striking way"

"Recording of the week: Vidi aquam is a true masterpiece, making innovative use of the textural and spatial options that a forty-part choir offers. It shares some characteristics with the Tallis, though is by no means a mere imitation ... Without the polished tones of the ORA Singers this luminous, ecstatic sound would be impossible. The sopranos are particularly impressive ... The group's ensemble, too, remains flawless even during the music's busiest moments"
