The article features Schellbourne, a ghost town in Nevada. The town started as a station on Schell Creek for the Pony Express in 1859. In June 1860, Fort Schellbourne was established by the U.S. Army after Paiute Indians raided the station and killed the stationmaster and two attendants. However, the fort was abandoned in 1862 when danger presented by the Paiute Indians had ceased to exist. The Overland Stage took over the station when the Pony Express was shut down in 1861.
